Tribes.

The app for families who get healthy together

Alone, you start.
Together, you stay.

Tribes is a simple way for your family to build healthy habits together. Set one shared goal, check in each day, and see everyone's progress in one place.

Works in your phone's browser today. iPhone and Android apps are in the works.

An example tribe with a shared goal, each member's steps for the day, and the five habit pillars.

Tribes is built on one idea from behavioral science. Habits stick better when you build them with other people.

66% of people who joined a weight-loss program with friends or family, and practiced supporting each other, kept their full weight loss six months after the program ended.
24% of people who joined alone did the same.

How it works

Three steps, about two minutes to set up.

  1. 1

    Start your tribe

Create a tribe, give it a name and invite your family. Only people you invite can join.

  2. 2

    Set one shared goal

Write it as a plan: when it happens, and what you'll do together. A specific plan beats a vague wish.

  3. 3

    Check in each day

Log your day in seconds and see everyone's progress. A daily reminder nudges anyone who forgets, so nobody has to nag.

Five habits. One place.

Tribes is built around the five pillars I write about every week.

Built for families, not competition.

Most fitness apps rank you against strangers. Tribes shows your family's progress side by side and keeps one shared streak. Nobody wins by making someone else lose. You keep each other going.

Why I built it.

As a pain physician, I see what years of small daily choices add up to. Medicine is good at treating the damage and far less good at helping people prevent it. So I built the tool I wanted for my own family. We're training to climb a mountain together in March, and Tribes is how we keep each other moving.
