Note

How do you know which thoughts to listen to?

Meditation

Most of your thoughts are not worth listening to.

Your mind judges you, fixates on the past, and ruminates on the future. It distracts you from the world as it is. And it robs you of joy.

The solution isn’t to force your mind into silence. It’s to watch your thoughts without reacting.

A thought is simply a temporary expression passing through your mind. When you watch the mind instead of reacting to it, you begin to see which thoughts are useful and which to ignore.

Some thoughts tear you down:

  • “I’m not good enough.”
  • “I can’t believe I said that.”
  • “What if no one likes my work?”

Let these go.

Other thoughts raise you up:

  • “I can handle this.”
  • “I can figure this out.”
  • “I’ve learned from my past.”

Listen to these.

The more you let go of disturbing thoughts, the clearer your mind becomes. And over time, you will find that you, the one who notices the thoughts, have an intuition that runs far deeper than any thought.

This marks the beginning of wisdom.
