How do you notice the beauty you want to create?

Great Work

To create beauty, you first have to notice it.

But the personal mind is addicted to thinking about you. Your desires. Your fears. Your wants. Your worries. It dwells on the past and ruminates on the future.

You can walk to your car, drive home, and walk through your front door without noticing a single thing along the way.

Lost in thought, you miss the beauty right in front of you.

The way out is a shift from personal to impersonal thinking.

The impersonal mind is a deeper, more peaceful set of thought patterns. It’s the mind beyond your personal desires and fears.

The bridge to the impersonal mind is a much larger frame of reference.

  • When you reach for your car door, notice you’re on a small green planet spinning in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by infinite darkness. Then enter your car.
  • When you reach your front door, recognize that you just crossed a small stretch of a planet abundant with life. Then enter your home.

Do this every time you change places.

It only takes a moment, but it trains your mind to see beyond its own concerns, into the deeper reality of every moment.

The same drive home you once missed becomes something you actually see.

In that reality, there is beauty, peace, and the opportunity for Great Work.
